Today one of my visitors was none other than someone at Alabama Contract Sales (IP address hidden in picture).

You might recall that ACS is the company run by Tim Turnham that recently plead guilty to a kickback scandal with the Alabama two year college system. Turnham admitted to funneling money from the scheme to former chancellor Roy Johnson as well as state school board member Mary Jane Caylor. Caylor has denied the accusation, but I traced the money from ACS through PACs run by Jeff Martin to Caylor. A federal judge tossed out the ACS plea deal just this week, calling the deal overly generous.

Well, I’ve been blogging for exactly one year now. I’m writing this post to celebrate. This is my 807th post, which puts me at a little over 2 posts per day.

Posting has been light over the last few days and will probably remain so during the week. It’s not really a lack of news to discuss, but rather a series of events keeping me too busy. On the schedule this week are two items of interest that will be reported here.
The first is the March to Montgomery to protest the Alabama legislature’s 62% pay raise they voted for themselves. I was mad as a wet hen when I first heard of the raise, but I’ve only gotten more angry since then. Our legislators are so sure that they can do anything now and the voters will forget in four years that it sickens me. I know it’s a hardship to take a day off in the middle of the week and drive to Montgomery, but we have to stand up to our public servants and tell them we’ve had enough!
If you want to come the protest will be on the state house steps in Montgomery at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, March 20th. Visit Matt Murphy’s website for more details.
Also this week I’ll be going to the Rocket City & B’ham Bloggers Meet Up. It will take place on Wednesday night in Madison. Click here for details.

I took off from blogging on Valentine’s Day to spend time with my wife and then yesterday I came down with a wicked, but apparently brief, fever. Hopefully regular blogging can resume now.

I’ve made some behind the scenes and aesthetic changes this morning. If anything appears to be not functioning properly please let me know!

Christmas season is over in my household; all of the various family members have come and gone. Now I can get back into some semblance of a routine - including blogging. Posts will likely be a little more sparse than normal for a while, though, as I still have a brutal work schedule to contend with for the next few weeks.
Merry (belated) Christmas and Happy (premature) New Year!

Apparently while writing my last post this morning Worpress thought it would be fun to throw in a “noscript” tag. The post was cut off and the balance of the page did not display. I don’t have time to search through support boards, so I thought I’d just throw out the problem and see if any fellow bloggers have encountered this problem.

My Wordpress theme is giving me grief this morning. The image in my last post shoved my sidebar to the bottom of the page and my header image has suddenly become narrower.
Maybe I’ll get it fixed this evening…
Update: I’m back in business - for now!

Welcome to my new home on the net. I’ve been busy watching football and getting this new domain set up over the last few days and though I’m not quite done I decided to “go live.” Please bear with me as I tinker with the aesthetic elements of the site over the next few days. Feel free to help me identify bugs or anything that needs fixing.

I’m thinking of upgrading to my own domain. Anyone out there have any opinions on good/bad hosts?
