Dick Durbin: Dumbest Legislator of the Day!

After his performance on Meet the Press, awarding Dick Durbin (D-IL) the DLD was a no brainer.
Sweeney (R-NY) won the prestigious DLD award in a landslide by pretending to be Ted Kennedy. No, he didn't try to socialize health care. He drank too much and made an ass of himself.
If you are a prominent grown person it is usually not a good idea to attend wild college parties. Just ask Larry Eustachy, the former Iowa St. basketball coach (former is the operative word). Once the college kids break out the weed, alarms should be ringing loudly in your head telling you to run for the exits. If you see a camera, you should put a bag over your head immediately. John Sweeney foolishly ignored all of the warning signs and had himself a good ol' time.
Notice the guy in the back on the right side of this picture. I bet that's not a Marlboro Light hanging out of his mouth.

What do you think Mr. Blue Hat is signaling?!

But partying alone does not guarantee winning the DLD, although it does merit a nomination.
No, Congressman Sweeney wrapped up the DLD by attending the party in another district. At least in your own district you may influence a few college kids and assorted pot heads at the party to vote for you (assuming they vote at all). Now Mr. Sweeney gets to explain himself to his constituents.
Day two of this little gimmick and I'm already bending the rules. Mr. Martinez is actually a judge in Bee County, Texas, not a legislator. But he's probably an elected official so I'll grant him an exception.
Anyway, I'm awarding him early in the day because it would take a monumental, Cynthia McKinney effort to overtake him. He thinks that the folks in Bee County can mount a boycott against ExxonMobil that will bring gas prices down to $1.30 per gallon. If you don't understand why this is profoundly ignorant then you may need professional help. Here is a pretty good explanation from someone who knows more than me.
If Ms. McKinney assaults a child or blind person later today I may have to pry the virtual trophy from Mr. Martinez's fingers.
Yesterday I inadvertantly started a new feature: the Dumbest Legislator of the Day. It was initially going to be a one time thing, but I am sure that there will be a healthy supply of candidates at any given time. Unfortunately, the name is somewhat of a misnomer because I sincerely doubt I'll be able to keep up with it daily, but I'll do what I can. By the way, Maria Cantwell (D-WA) was the first receipient. Congratulations.
As an added bonus for those legislators who represent me (Shelby, Sessions, and Cramer) I will be keeping a running tab of your nominations for and victories of this prestigious award. It should make for good reading material next time each of you is up for re-election. And yes, any opposition to the FairTax earns you an automatic nomination.
Sen. Maria Cantwell (D-WA) has found the solution to high gas prices. Create vaguely worded legislation that would monetarily punish gas companies and cause the gas prices to actually go even higher. Great idea.
It never fails to amaze me how ignorant many of our elected officials are.
