I just watched Sarah Palin’s speech – she is an absolutely wonderful choice for Vice President. She is right on issues, she is a great speecher, and she exudes confidence. She also has more executive experience in her own right than does Obama…
I’ll observe that Palin used a phrase to describe her will to serve: “A Servant’s Heart”. Our own Wayne Parker refers to the same phrase in his speeches. The phrase is from Matthew 23:11-12.
The greatest among you will be your servant. For whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted.
Compare that to the ‘Exalted One’…

Yes, mayor of a town of 5,000 and two years as governor of the second least populated state in the union (and half-controlled by the feds anyway) really jumps out at you. I think Hilary’s non-experience counted more than that.

ttwonfeen, did you listen to Obama last night? How many times did he use the word “I” in telling us how he would save/protect/provide/control/enslave us? Obama, having served all of 144 active days in the Senate, is FAR less qualified than Palin – a sitting state executive. Furthermore, Obama has all of the wrong ideas for bettering this nation. O – smell the change.

What about Obama’s relationships with Dr. Khalid Abdullah Tariq al-Mansour, Bill Ayers, Tony Reszko, Jermiah Wright, Frank Marshall Davis, et al? Do any of those matter? McCain ain’t my guy becasue he’s far too left and I won’t be supporting him, but Obama is an outright Marxist and possibly a Manchurian candidate.
Haha ttownfeen, if you look at what she’s done during her time, it’s impressive ESPECIALLY from the second most populated state in the union. Unlike a certain other candidate who has been in a very populous state and done nothing his whole life.
YBaL, you can bet we’ll still be seeing those ads. It’s a pathetic commentary on the Dem ticket that mayor of a tiny town in Alaska is a whole lot more executive experience than the COMBINED ticket across the aisle.

I’ve thought that McCain should choose Palin for some time. I really didn’t think McCain was that smart though.
Palin, IMHO, did a great job of introducing herself to the national media and everyone watching and listening to her (except for some Democrats, of course).
I heard that Obama responded to the choice by saying that Palin has no executive or foreign policy experience. That seems like the pot calling the kettle black, and he’s at the TOP of the ticket.
YBFaL, cute, but it’s yet to evolve to that point. However, if Osama, er Obama, were elected, you could witness it first hand.
Palin is a phenomenal choice. Sure, she’s no 35 year veteran like joe biden but she’s got “it” – liberals are pissed, so it’s a good choice. please do not come back with experience folks, palin is second on the ticket and behind a very experienced veteran senator who knows his stuff and at the top of the dem ticket, uh a good speech and some american idol text messages, dems are spinning like crazy to cover this up and figure out a way to make it favor them, but they can’t. i can assure you that this pick just changed the rules, the game is almost over and dems can not fathom how “the one” couln’t win, but he won’t.
She is a great pick. I called my wife immediately. This is very motivating. She is conservative and experienced and walks (not just talks) the conservative ideals. YES!!!

I think the Palin choice is fantastic. I was going to write a pre-pick post advocating for her, but I thought it was a lost cause with all the talk about Romney, Pawlenty, and others. McCain’s choice has converted me from a willing voter to an enthusiastic supporter. More later…

Liberal Best Friend – I compared Palin’s “executive experience” to Obama’s, specifically, her Executive experience as Governor of Alaska versus Obama’s executive experience as Chairman of the Chicago Annenberg Challenge, which spent $50 million and achieved nothing.

surveying Hannity’s forum, OPers note that a Hillary blog site is about to or has crashed in support of McCain’s choice for Palin. Also, HillaryVoters4McCain website are excited too. I suspect there are more. Things are looking bright.

Considering that Alaska is twice the size of Texas, either the person who wrote this is going out of their way to make Palin’s position to appear insignificant, or they are a complete geographical moron. My guess is the former.

Kathy, I agree with what you said about people, especially on blogs, taking potshots at someone’s name or even their party affiliation or ideology. It just doesn’t seem civil to me. I read several blogs every day and I see both bloggers and those who comment resort to it like schoolyard kids calling other people names.
She is an outstanding choice. One analyst said she is going to be our first female president and I’ll bet you anything she’s right. I am so relieved he did not pick Romney.

Her husband has a DWI on his record. And the oldest daughter, Bristol, is pregnant and unmarried. Like mother like daughter — if you do the math, you’ll see that Sarah and her husband got married eight months before oldest son Track (who recently joined the armed forces) was born. So much for abstinence, eh Sarah? The apple that is Bristol didn’t fall very far from the tree, did it?
I’d say the trailer park vote is all locked up for the GOP, as usual.

It’s easy to get fired up over the McCain, Palin ticket. I can’t say enough about Sarah Palin. I liken her detractors to skaters who go down hard; that look of disbelief. Most families are faced with the same pressures as Sarah’s, AND she has the foritude (most don’t) to face the heat from the hostile left-wing media as they delightedly crawl through her background looking for some dirty laundry that they can air. LOL…how many in the media could bear this type of scrutiny (not, holier than thou Mike Wallace and his racial slurs for those old enough to remember)

Everything I wrote about Sarah Palin and the family members is 100% factually accurate. And as far as your question — “how many in the media could bear this type of scrutiny?” — that’s completely irrelevant because no one in the media is running for office. Sarah Palin is. Therefore, scrutiny is appropriate.
Sarah Palin has put her family front and center in the campaign. You heard her at the convention talking proudly about her son Track, who will soon be deployed on active duty, and you saw the infant Trig being passed around among family members in the audience. I don’t have a problem with that, but if she’s going to try to capitalize on her family, then why is it unfair for me (or the media) to point out the negative facts about the family that are out there.
Unfortunately for Sarah Palin, the facts don’t paint a pretty picture. She preaches abstinence rather than sex education. However, neither she or her husband (when she they were younger) nor her oldest daughter has practiced abstinence. The oldest daughter is pregnant, unmarried, and engaged to a self-described “f*ckin’ redneck.” All these are facts.
This is the woman and the family that you and your ilk want to support for the second-highest office in the land? I find that shocking.
And speaking of the media . . . how many of you conservatives spoke out about the movie Juno and how it presented a sugar-coated version of what it was like to be an unmarried pregnant teenager? How many of you were critical of the media when the unmarried Jamie Lynn Spears and her baby appeared on magazine covers, on grounds that the media’s treatment of the matter was glorifying teen pregnancy?
But now, when the very same situation crops up in Sarah Palin’s family, there’s no criticism heard from the right wing. Instead, Sarah Palin actually scores points based on her family being a wreck because, as you put it, “[m]ost families are faced with the same pressures as Sarah’s.” That’s hypocritical.
Assuming that Barack and Michelle Obama’s daughters were a few years older (and of child-bearing age), what kind of stereotypes do you think the right wing would be conjuring up if one of the Obama daughters turned up unmarried and pregnant? And what would right wingers be saying about the situation if the father of the unborn child stepped up and described himself as a “f*ckin (fill in the blank)”? I really don’t think you’d be sending credit to Barack Obama based on such a sorry state of affairs.

Regarding Jaime Lynn Spears the two situations are decidedly different. Spears injected herself into the public eye as an actress. She personally sought out the limelight. Palin’s children did not. Her children’s boy/girlfriends certainly did not.
Sarah Palin is the candidate running for elected office. Want to analyze her record? Go ahead, it’s fair game. Want to try to personally smear her? While it is poor taste this is politics and she better have thick enough skin for that. I would even say the spouse is open to some degree of inspection, depending on his level of activity in the campaign. The line should be drawn at the children, though, as has historically been done.
All of you folks out there attacking and investigating the children are absolutely disgusting. A true reflection of the moral decay of our society that anyone, much less “reputable” individuals, would attack children for political gain.

Sarah Palin has put her children — Track, Bristol, Trig, etc. — front and center in the campaign. That was her choice. Sarah Palin is the moralizer who preaches abstinence over sex education. Her own life demonstrates that that particular policy choice doesn’t work out real well. That’s fair game.
Introducing your children is not putting them “front and center.” So what if you think Palin is a “moralizer”? Take your frustrations out on her, not her children.
