The Truth on Troy
I just came across a blog named “The Truth on Troy” (kudos to RS McCain), which claims to be…
[A]n attempt by an Alabama conservative to set the record straight about the current so-called Republican in the Attorney General’s office. We will not dabble in rumors or misinformation, but instead we will look at hard facts which demonstrate that AG Troy King is not a true conservative, and he needs to be replaced in the next election.
I took a quick look around and saw posts detailing personnel issues and contributions from gambling sources. While the site boldly proclaims that “we will not dabble in rumors or misinformation” there is a post discussing a certain rumor about King that began circulating last year. The rumor has bubbled back up thanks to RS McCain, a national blogger who is making a swing through Alabama.
To my knowledge the only time anyone, journalist or otherwise, has confronted King about the rumor is when WVNN’s Dale Jackson asked him about it. King bluntly replied multiple times that he does not discuss rumors.
McCain asserts that “there is the sense that the GOP attorney general is a ticking scandal-bomb that might explode into ugly headlines soon, and Republicans are worried about the potential for collateral damage in a year when all the political indicators seem to favor the GOP.” He says the media won’t touch the story, but that it shouldn’t be ignored because of the possible national implications. Ironically, Left in Alabama is concerned about the same thing happening to their candidates.
I maintain my position that based on the evidence I’ve seen I do not believe the salacious parts of this rumor. From people I’ve spoken with on background it was more of a confluence of circumstances that made for a believable story.

Troy is gay. end of story. like so many of our party members who straddled the fence between homosexuality and morality. That’s why we need a true conservative in washington like les phillips, he will fight the homosexuals.
Yeah Right, on behalf of the Les Phillip Campaign, I ask that you please not post anymore on our behalf. Whether malignant (such as above) or benign, these types of posts seem to perpetuate more harm than good. Thank you for your support.
Clinton, I overheard Les say that gays shouldnt be allowed in the military surely as a conservative he doesnt believe they should hold office? Since you are obviously a Les supporter and connected with the campaign where does he stand with gays in the military?
Yeah Right, Les fully supports the current “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” military policy and is against a change in policy as suggested under the current Administration. As for the other question, Les fully believes that politics and what a person does in his/her own bedroom should not mingle, and that not only should a person not ask what goes on in another’s bedroom, a person should not tell what goes on in his/her bedroom as well, politics and the military alike.
I thought you were speaking for Les? Are you sure you have that authority, because if so you put his campaign at great risk? This seems like political double speak to me and les is too new to this community , too inexperienced politically , and too underfunded to have you speaking for him. He needs to tell the people where he stands on gays.
“Les fully believes that politics and what a person does in his/her own bedroom should not mingle”
What about gays right to marry, your statements on Les’ behalf clearly flies in the face of ALL he has said before. He said he would vote down any legislation that allows gays to marry and thats why I took him serious as a candidate. This flies in the face of Les’ and my Christian conservative convictions.
Your comments make me want to totally re-evaluate Phillips I am starting to believe that he is not in a position to help us here in the 5th district. It is this type of political double-speak that got this country in the position that we are in today.
There’s no political double speak, just honest conversation, although it may be difficult at times to portray online. Yes, Les would vote against any legislation that allowed for the legalization of gay marriage. Yes, Les does support “Don’t ask, don’t tell” over the new proposed legislation to repeal. Yes, Les does support the role of the traditional ‘nuclear’ family and the fundamental Christian values that make him the man that he is today. The phrase above on ‘mingling personal bedroom behavior with politics was directed at ensuring that those people choosing to act in a certain way behind closed doors not bring that lifestyle into the political arena and attempt to influence the lives of others. Rather, “what you do is your business, so long as it doesn’t impose on the rest of us”. Hence, the gay marriage legislation to which Les is vehemently opposed.
While you and I (and Les) appear to agree on issues (atleast those discussed above), it is our approach that differs. This is why I politely asked you to refrain from further discussion of matters related to the Les Phillip campaign. While I wholly trust your conservative credentials, Les approach to this issue is not one in which he chooses to resort to bashing, name-calling, taunting, or the like. While I am not saying that you were doing so, the conversation did seem to point in that direction. Again, expression via message boards can come across a lot differently than intended.
” The phrase above on ‘mingling personal bedroom behavior with politics was directed at ensuring that those people choosing to act in a certain way behind closed doors not bring that lifestyle into the political arena and attempt to influence the lives of others”.
“Yes, Les would vote against any legislation that allowed for the legalization of gay marriage”.
Who are “those” people exactly?
Wouldnt he be bringing the heterosexual christian conservative lifestyle into the political arena in effect influencing the lives of others?
“While I wholly trust your conservative credentials, Les approach to this issue is not one in which he chooses to resort to bashing, name-calling, taunting, or the like”
I have to absolutely call BS on this. I am an ardent supporter of conservative principles and I read flashpoint to see what our party is doing. I cant recall a day when a phillips supporter has not been on this site cowardly calling Mo Brooks a mormon or understandably bashing congressman parker griffith.
This country has had so many “wolves in sheeps clothing” lately I would just like to make sure les isnt one of those closeted republicans who shatters this community’s faith in him by not letting us know who he really is once and if he is elected.
Stop the political double speak and tell us what your role is with the Phillips campaign or might I suggest that perhaps you are the one that should not be speaking on his campaign’s behalf.
Pardon me for being so cynical but just 18 months ago a senator from Illinois came from nowhere and now look where we are by NOT asking the hard questions.
Yeah right, this will be my last post here as I unfortunately have work to finish, but feel free to have the last word.
You’re right. There have been a lot of ardent Les fans on this site, some of which have resorted to tactics that Les nor I nor any other member of the campaign will condone or get behind. This is why I first posted on this thread regarding your initial post and the namecalling, etc. The people on this blog who have riled and roasted others on behalf of Les have not been doing so at his behest, but rather on their own. Unfortunately, these same people do not realize the harm that they actually cause the campaign in behaving in this manner. In Les’ opinion as well as mine, the campaign would be better off without their support. Hence, my subtle way of asking you not to post on behalf of Les anymore.
It’s not necessary for me to explain my role in the campaign, just that it is sufficient and that I do speak for Les regarding this matter. In fact, my initial post was after breaking off a call with him to discuss.
I hate to pull you away from what must be a very important job, since you feel it necessary to mention. However, you never answered any of my questions. I guess you the readers will have to assume that you have no answer or that my assertions are correct.

Will Les sign a campaign pledge or issue a statement that he will demand that his lackies stop the whisper campaigns and that he will publicly denounce the likes of that quack Thomas Beach who was the henchman behind the “Mo is a mormon” scurrilous campaign? Yes or No
This one is off the shelf. One quick observation – I finally know who John Doe III is – haha/ yeah right!
Does anyone have any comments on the original story – haha again!
