Local political websites sprouting up
2009 November 20
Here are a few more local political websites that are up and running in addition to those I recently mentioned:
- Paul Sanford, AL Senate District 7
- Mike Ball, AL House District 10
- Mary Scott Hunter, AL Board of Education District 8
Hunter is running for the BoE seat currently held by Mary Jane Caylor. Caylor has announced that she will not be seeking reelection.
Please let me know of any others in the comments.

Well went to Mike Ball’s page and did the donation thing because he was one of very few who actually stood up with us against the HHA, but the only reason I mention this is that I would give more to candidates if they use PayPal, I don’t want my credit card out there on a dozen candidates database with god know what (if any) security. Not trying to sound like an ad for PayPal but I do feel a lot better about donating when I can use it and not start writing down a ton of credit card info I really don’t want to share. Maybe I am paranoid on the subject ….

Doug,
Thanks for the donation. I hope the website was informative. I think Johnathan Bjork did a great job on the web design. Asking for money has always been the toughest part of campaigning for me. In addition to providing information, I believe the website provides those who wish to contribute an opportunity to do so, without being instrusive.
Douglas – I agree with you about using Paypal for the security, plus it’s easier.
Can somebody tell me if Les Phillip is still running? After spending around 34 grand to get Huckleberry to give a generic sort of speech, he seems to have disappeared.
@Doug, you were wise:

Still lonely being a sad little man I see Bob…

@Doug, since you want to talk about my personal life, unless you’re as tall as my 2 sons, the adjective “little” seems poorly chosen. As to “sad,” every day that goes by is happier than the day before. The country isn’t moving back to its progressive foundations as fast as I might like, and there are still some small, backward areas that don’t get it (recently, rural Mainers took a step backward on equality for my LGBT friends – we won in urban Maine). But time is on our side and on the whole our beloved country is moving in the right direction since our victories in 2006 and 2008.
And the antics of the far right keep me endlessly amused.
How about you?
Rev Bob,
I don’t think Douglas was referring to your height when he called you a “sad little man”
@Mike, Perhaps Doug is just throwing the kitchen sink at people he feels angry and resentful towards. There sure seems to be a lot of that around these days among the losers of the 2008 election and their supporters.
It’s just politics! Next week is a big family get-together for us, and perhaps for Doug and you too. Happy Thanksgiving.
And even if your life has nothing in it but politics, cheer up! Nate Silver says Republicans will probably be picking up some seats in the 2010 election. The out party usually does in off years. Nate doesn’t think it’s likely to change control of either house, but it may. And if it doesn’t, Republicans and conservadems will still be obstructing progress and keeping the majority of Americans from getting the policies they want, at least in a few cases. That’s surely enough satisfaction for conservatives.
