Well did not know where else to put this but after reading a couple of hysterical rants in a couple of places about the HHA moving into the Branscomb area of S Huntsville I thought I should post this in a couple of places. We got enough REAL problems to work on that we don't need to make any up, just be watchful.

This is an example of housing policy at its worst. To start with, the premise of “Somebody’s going to get this money, so why not us?” violates to the core any notion of fiscal responsibility. How could any Huntsville resident (or any informed taxpayer for that matter), pass this property once completed and not feel violated and resentful?

Nothing about this makes sense. It discourages self sufficiency and productivity while encouraging the entitlement mentality that is a slippery slide to socialism. With government funded projects like this, how long will it take for those of us left pulling the wagon to decide we will just hop aboard and ride. When the wagon won’t pull any more, the quality of life for ALL takes a nose dive.

Even if the project made sense otherwise, the sheer dollars are staggering. Having been in the construction business for almost 30 years, and having built multi-family housing, hotels, etc., I am convinced of the absolute waste of tax payer dollars here. Less than half of that amount of money could purchase land AND build 72 brand new housing units that would provide more than sufficient and basic housing.

Nothing is more important to families than decent shelter. There are those who are down on their luck and in need of housing hopefully, except for the elderly and disabled, temporarily. If taxpayers are to provide housing for those less fortunate, then it should be just that and no more; sufficient and basic.

I fell out of my chair reading the "Fourth". Why would anyone bother to work hard and get his/her own crappy house or be self-sufficient when we're giving them luxury places to live for almost nothing? These folks got the golden tickets and they are not going to let them go. Is HHA kidding us with this absurdity? All HHA and Gov want is to get more people to depend on them so they control their votes - therefore they could control everything.
