Deer in the Elk River
2009 July 16
I took this picture of a Deer in the Elk River last Friday. The picture was taken just off Old Railroad Bed Road (but over the border in Tennessee).

The picture loses a lot with resizing, but it was a great moment. We are blessed to live in such a beautiful area.

We are truly blessed to be in this area. I live in South Huntsville. It takes me 15 minutes to get from my driveway to any number of places I can kayak/canoe on the Flint River, and feel like I’m totally alone with no other person anywhere near me. I’ve seen deer, coon, muskrats, ducks, coots, heron, fish, and other animals happily being themselves while I float peacefully on the river.
Additionally there are any number of places I could (and do) hike or otherwise enjoy the “Great Outdoors.” Yet at the same time, I’ve got high end shopping and other urban features I can enjoy. It’s an amazing part of the country.
I’ve not done anything on the Elk yet, but plan to sometime soon.
