I, too, have called Parker’s office for information about if he was holding THM. I was told to go to his WEB SITE, I could get that information. Well, I can’t. Dale Jackson says Parker is not having a THM while he is on break from Washington……

Called his DC office this morning. Apparently he will be busy with tours while at home in the Valley. Inquired specifically about town hall mtgs and was told by the staffer that there were “security concerns”…whatever that’s about? I said that I, for one, would like to encourage him to have at least one THM while here at home. I think more people should call and voice support. :-)

Nice summary. I’ve started looking for information on meetings Griffith will have in August. Have received no reply to two requests sent to his press rep, and the second copied to his email.
Wonder if he is just trying to dodge the people, whose input he and his party find so useful.
Anyone know where any public meetings are scheduled in north Alabama this month?

Some friends of mine ran into Congressman Griffith later the next day and he said, he thought some kind of reform of insurance companies was needed and that the proposed plan (Obama’s) was too expensive and was a “Trojan Horse”. Oh, asked if dentistry would be included in the plan, he said “no”. Thank goodness. — but, as with all things, we will see what actually happens.

Interesting recap! Thanks for taking the time to put it together. I took some photos, but the lighting was awful, and I didn’t want to distract with a flash.

One other observation that’s interesting was the long, long line of people who wanted to speak to Griffith after the “official” event was over. It easily had 20+ people in it.

I enjoyed hearing the opinions on both sides and think it was a successful event in that it opened up a discussion about health care that – for the most part – was serious and issues-based.

Griffith should amend his bill to require all federal employees and contractors accept coverage in the proposed public plan. The resultant union backlash and maneuvering would be informative and entertaining.

Of course, it won’t happen but one can dream.

Surprised to hear no one proposed a federalization of medicaid, that would save the state a lot of money and if finessed right could achieve the goals of the USG must pay for my benadryl crowd.

Thanks for taking the time to post this. According to your analysis, Healthcare is replacing Social Security as the 3rd rail. It’s gonna be interesting to see if
Griffith or any of the Alabama delegation touches it.
