Laura Hall misquotes me – I said she is an “absolutely pathetic candidate”

Laura Hall has responded to the kerfuffle over her stoking racial strife to get out the vote in the SD-7 special election with this flyer.

Laura Hall - Lemmings

Awesome.  This is the second time I’ve been used as a reference in a negative ad in this special election (first here).

Hall took some liberties with the quotes, though.  I actually said, “Laura Hall is an absolutely pathetic candidate.”  The lemmings quote (which is also incorrect) came from Dale Jackson.  Dale has also called her a coward multiple times.  I couldn’t find the “stupidity of the people” quote anywhere online, although I agree with it.  What else explains her campaign?  She must think the people she sent the flyer to are stupid because she felt compelled to define what a lemming is!  She didn’t think her voters would know.  What a lowly opinion of them.

The text of this flyer mirrors that of her radio ad (you know, the one where she tried to imply Paul Sanford hated minorities so that she could divide the community along racial lines).  The difference is that this one, if it stood alone, would not merit accusations of race baiting.  I mean, she inserted file photos of smiling white people.  The circumstances surrounding the radio spot made its intention quite plain, however.

The election is Tuesday and we’re still waiting for Laura Hall to stand up and take positions on substantive issues…

    Brian,

I take deep offense to you trying to take credit for my handy work. I said all these things on my program.

I hate you now as much as Laura Hall hates ME.

    Dale

How dare you Brian. How dare you.

Only because you stole some of them from me. :)

      Dale Jackson is my shadow.

Interesting no mention of her party or party symbols. Nothing that leaps off the page and says “I am a Democrat”. Think we’ll see this a lot this election season.

However, would not expect a platform from her campaign. They are counting on getting more of their base to the polls than the R’s will.

“Now Laura Hall needs our help to make history again by becoming the first woman to represent Senate District 7.”

Funny, she looks like a man.

Seriously, how long is this crap going to go on? If Hall (gag) wins, I think I will run against her next time and urge the voters to “make history again by electing the first 44-year-old white male with three kids and a degree in engineering to represent District 7.”

Good job Jack. If Paul loses this one, I will support you (anyone) against Laura Hall. You may want to throw your birthday and hair color in to insure the historical accuracy and relevance.

We need more engineers in the legislature. I want someone to develop a computational algorithm that will reapportion legislative districts based solely on population and major geographical boundaries. No outside political influence, no craftily designed districts to cluster together like minded voters, and no screwy, snaking boundaries. It will take an engineer to do that.

Are you announcing for 2010 Brian? I think that would be great!!!

    • Brian on June 7, 2009 at 12:33 pm permalink

No. As I like to tell people, I would make a poor politician because I tell people what they need to hear, not what they want to hear.

That is a quality much needed in politics. Too bad.

“They” are lemmings and “they” will vote as they are told. IS this any different than Sanford doesnt care about “our ” community…. “WE ” elected Obama…?? Sounds like both are code words for black voters

Man, Hall is Pathetic. Ugly is as Ugly does. I thought Dems are all about open opinions and free speech? I guess it doesn’t apply to anyone outside of Dem.

Did anyone else notice that Hall thinks her voters are so stupid she has to explain what a lemming is to them? Nope they can’t be expected to know it, or heaven forbid look it up if they don’t know. Too dumb to do that.

The actual “Lemmings” quote is worded quite a bit different. What’s your point Wayne?

What is good for the goose is good for the gander. If you are going to say “Our” community means black don’t be surprised when Hall says “they ” and “district-idiot voters” do too.

I also agree with Jess Brown that Dale’s comments is one of the best things going for Hall right now.

Let’s keep persepective. She is not Sue Schmitz: Her job was a real teaching job, not a fake one made up for her to get $. She also claims she used sick pay when she missed work or had another legislator vote for her. Either seems to be a valid response. Maybe she is not being truthful. I don’t know.

    • Dale Jackson on June 8, 2009 at 3:37 pm permalink

      No, neither is appropriate.

She works for me either way and should be doing her job, not drawing paychecks and having a sweet gig where she just decides not to show up.

Nor should other legislators be casting votes for her.

She’s still under investigation for problems with her time sheets.

Wayne, if you think Laura Hall taking my comments and attributing them to Paul Sanford as if he controls me is a honorable way to run a campaign, then no wonder you see no problem with Hall’’s behavior.

Again – it appears to be a bit of a misquote.

    like lemmings then

It does mean “black people” see my quote…

Laura Hall has a strategy when it comes to winning the District 7 State Senate race against Paul Sanford…

      I know she does…

It isn’t get out and get attention.

It isn’t spread the message of the good works of Laura Hall.

It isn’t to explain the differences between Laura Hall and Paul Sanford.

      It’s actually pretty simple…

Her “strategy” is to win the district she currently holds, which is inside the bigger district she is running for.

She hopes she can get enough blacks to turn out and like lemmings vote at a 90%+ clip for her and she hopes they carry her over the finish line.

That is a statement of fact, how the hell does she attribute me laying out her strategy to Paul Sanford? How is it right to use that implying AGAIN that it’s racist.

  17. wayne on June 8, 2009 at 3:57 pm permalink

It is not right. Her whole point is to try to get enough black voters upset and think she and the black community are under attack.
