A fresh face

If Flashpoint were a newspaper’s editorial section, I guess Brian would have a dual role as editor and the leading columnist. It’s his blog, so he gets to call it. Reactionary would be the citizen-commenter – he always goes to civic meetings and stuff. He also seems to know more about the community than anyone I’ve met in the Huntsville area so far. Mike Ball would be the insider columnist. He is one of the people we blog about.

I think maybe I’m the gossip columnist. Unfortunately, most of my current political gossip comes from the ridiculous amount of time I’ve spent helping Free the Hops. I swore a nondisclosure oath, punishable by a mandatory 12-pack of Corona. So I can’t talk about all the frustrating and backstabbing crap we had to put up with.

So I guess some of you are lost about now. If you don’t know me, I used to run Daily Dixie. I left to have a “real life” for a little while, but it turns out that I’m a nerd. So I just devoted even more time to Free the Hops. I concepted and programmed this neat little tool and tried to coordinate thousands of members and supporters into some organized grassroots campaign – it’s like herding beer-drinking cats.

When I’m not doing FTH stuff, I’m usually sleeping or working. But that’s all about to change because now I get to add “blogging” back to the list!

This post was pretty lame. I guess I need to find start finding some good gossip.

This media consolidation is bad for America. Too much power centralized in one place is to easily corruptible.

    Break up Flashpointblog.com

While I applaud the grassroots efforts of the FTH movement, there are so many more important and worthwhile issues and legislation to rally around than having the legal alcohol content marginally increased. There is already plenty of beer and liquor options available- use them.

I think we should have the Justice Department investigate this Flashpoint-Daily Dixie merger. Clearly it is an attempt to create a monopoly with an unfair advantage over its competitors, not to mention its nefarious connections with the brewery business in Alabama. I would ask Troy King to investigate but he seems a bit busy at the moment.
