The Judgment of God on Goat Hill

The Alabama Statehouse flooded today.

Here is how one wizened theologian responded

The Alabama legislature has always been known for gambling, sin and wickedness. It is the kind of behavior that ultimately brings the judgment of God. Warnings year after year by godly evangelists and preachers went unheeded. So why were we surprised when finally the hand of judgment fell?

Sadly, Republicans suffered along with the Democrats. Sin always brings suffering to good people as well as the bad. Alabama has been moving away from God. We all need to embrace godliness and churchgoing and good, godly living, and we can get divine protection for that point.

The Lord is sending appeals to us. As harsh as it may sound, those high waters do say that God is real, and we have to realize sin has consequences.

If you are believer and read the Bible, you know sin has judgment. The Alabama legislature has always been known for sin. … The wages of sin is a flooded parking lot.

I’d place a wager that this turn of events will get the ball rolling on the legislature getting the new digs they wanted.

Hmmm..then what does it mean that the largest church in town was also flooded, forcing the cancellation of the citywide National Day of Prayer service?

    Hmmmm…interesting…

It could have been worse. Areas just outside of Montgomery to the west and south reported much less rain than in Montgomery itself, but I live about a dozen miles as the crow flies northeast of Montgomery and we had much more rain….over a foot. Fortunately I live on high ground and all of that water drained off without collecting as it did in the parking lot at the State House and other low-lying areas of Montgomery.

I wonder if that new statehouse is shovel ready? Maybe we can get stimulated.
