$4M – the missing piece of the puzzle. That’s what – around 15-20 houses in S HSV. Believe it or not, I am actually surprised that HSV didn’t ask more money. Our tax $ at work, HHA, you can purchase my house for $200k. I want some of my tax $ back!

That should allow the creation of several more mini-projects

Actually Old Prosecutor, according the article the funds will be used to:

The stimulus money is in addition to a $462,000 award the Huntsville Housing Authority will receive from the federal Housing and Urban Development Administration to promote self-sufficiency among authority tenants. The self-sufficiency money announced Tuesday must be used to connect public housing residents with education, job training, employment services and homeownership counseling that can lead them to independence.

Do you have a problem with that?

Yeah I do have a problem with that. The problem is “WTF does it mean?” . That is an example of authentic government/bureaucratic gibberish at its finest. “connect public housing  residents with education, job training etc” – how do you do that?. Could it mean moving them nearer to certain locations where those things exist – you betcha!

BTW, let me make my view on public housing projects clear. They are a form of segregation- based not on race but on income. They concentrate  the poorest among us (and thereby segregate them from the rest of us). This deprives them of public safety (human predators like their animal counterparts always prey on the weakest), of positive role models and of hope. If Huntsville Housing Authority is sincere they would use Section 8 to get rid of all the Housing Projects, not build mini projects in other parts of town. Of course they would lack a purpose if they did that and no bureaucracy once established is ever going to work itself out of a job.

Everyday it becomes more tempting to put a ‘For Sale’ sign in my yard.  Those folks who bought/built homes in Owen’s Crossroads and even those in Hampton Cove were alot smarter then I.

Young HSV Accountant, if you are financially secure enough – move. What are you waiting for?
There are so many houses on the market in Owen’s Crossroad for less than $225K. Don’t regret later by not selling your house now.
