Chaffee HHA Hearing Update – Brooks
Madison County Commissioner Mo Brooks (FOX54 Video), who represents District 5 which includes the Chaffee area, said it “concerns me that we were blindsided, and that’s part of a political strategy”.
Brooks “discounts the idea that projects are good for any part of the commnunity” and that he’s “concerned about the impact on schools”. Brooks said that the HHA plan would have a “detrimental effect on the only part of Huntsville that has survived”.
Brooks offered a “solution” – hold Mayor Battle accountable for his appointments to the HHA Board over the next three years. Since the HHA Board has five members, in three years a majority could vote to “disown” the property. Brooks solution gained him the Third Standing Ovation of the Hearing.
It’s too bad for Alabama, but good for Madison County, that Mo Brooks didn’t receive the support of the voters when he ran for Lieutenant Governor in 2006. He’s an outspoken straight-shooter.
I may as well throw in that he’s also in favor of Alabama becoming the 25th Initiative and Referendum state (SEE: http://www.doctoriq.com/mobrooks.htm).
HSV times has a big article today, taking great pains to point out twice taht the attendees at Chaffee were all white, except for the blacks from councill court. They conveniently ignore the remarks by blacks opposed to the move.
That’s funny, the man standing next to me wasn’t from Councill Court – guess he wasn’t really there, maybe a figment of my imagination. I mean, the Huntsville Times is a paragon of journalistic excellence after all.
