The shortest presentation you’ll ever see
Courtesy of Alabama’s Senate Democrats…
Two members of the state Democratic Senate Caucus toured North Alabama on Monday spreading the word of “the many good things” they’ve done this session, according Sen. Roger Bedford of Russellville.
Not only have they still made no progress on their “Covenant with Alabama,” but it surely strained their cognitive capacity to identify any “good things” they’ve done.
One other interesting quote:
[Sen. Zeb Little] said these laws are necessary because Alabama, like the rest of the nation, is experiencing “unprecedented hard times.”
Here’s the definition of “unprecedented” from dictionary.com:
unprecedented – without previous instance; never before known or experienced; unexampled or unparalleled: an unprecedented event.
I’m getting sick of all the hyperbole from politicians and media folks about the current economic downturn. What we are currently experiencing is not nearly as bad as the great depression. Not even close. It currently rivals the economic slide of the early 80’s depending on which metrics you’re using. Just stop all the grandiose rhetoric.
Hear, hear! Unfortunately, no one has called them out on it yet. Hyperbole sells papers. It seems to me that only textbooks of the future will have the perspective correct (… maybe).
Were they able to name one thing?
