Now we can see just what our government wanted to stimulate
We were told that Obama’s “stimulus” plan was intended to create or save, what, two or three million jobs. But the legislation was chock full of liberal pet projects, leaving one to question the bill’s true intent.
Question no longer.
It was dubious at best that condoms intended for an AIDS prevention program had any place in the “stimulus” bill. When one sees “stimulus” and “condoms” in the same sentence it usually has a different meaning. But at least some solace could be taken in the jobs such purchasing would support. So much for that. The government has decided to buy millions of condoms from a Chinese company instead of an Alabama company, a move that could cost Alabama workers their jobs.
Now I’m no fan of protectionist “Buy American” requirements. I’m a taxpayer after all and I want to pay as little as possible so I do appreciate the government seeking out the lowest bidder. If American companies can’t offer more value than Chinese companies then that is just too bad.
But the very inclusion of the condom purchase in the bill had no stimulative value outside of the possibility of “creating or saving” a few jobs. For that very provision of the bill to actually cost American jobs is just kicking sand in our faces. That bill was sold to the American people under false pretenses. It wasn’t a jobs bill. It wasn’t even stimulus. It was an explosion of pent up liberal desires, that much is clear now.
I must add that the name of the Chinese condom maker struck me as rather amusing: Qingdao Double Butterfly Group. Just seems like an interesting name for a condom manufacturer.
If the condoms are as well made as most Chinese products, we’re looking at another Baby Boom in the near future.
lol…….no joke. Good article, I wish every person that voted for Obama knew of these items in the bill. I believe there would be a huge outbreak of negativity. The folks that voted for him are either true socialist or are ignorant to what he stands for. No hard working person in this country would vote for him if they were aware of what he actually stands for.
