Watson First to File for House 6
From the Glenn Watson campaign:
Glenn Watson First to File with State G.O.P. to Run for House District 6
(HUNTSVILLE, ALABAMA)—Glenn Watson, a former city councilman in Huntsville, today was the first to qualify with the Alabama Republican Party to run in the special election primary for House District 6 to be held on May 26th. The election has been called by Governor Bob Riley to fill the vacancy created by the removal from office of former Representative Sue Schmitz (D-Toney).
“The circumstances surrounding this special election are unfortunate but signal the need for ethics reform and transparency in government. I am seeking this seat to take my experience of sound fiscal management, delivering promises and integrity to the Alabama Legislature,” Watson said Friday.
Glenn Watson is a graduate of the University of Alabama and a veteran of the United States Air Force. He established Stanlieo’s Sub Villa in 1970 and subsequently passed the business to family members. Watson served on the Huntsville City Council from 1996—2008, elected President of the Council by his peers three times. He is a survivor of the 2002 Tsunami that devastated Thailand and continues to raise money for the orphanage there established for children who lost their parents in the disaster. Watson currently serves as a substitute teacher in the Huntsville city school system. He has three children and four grandchildren.
If Glenn Watson has been in Alabama for so long… why does he still sound like a yankee?
Years ago, when Watson first ran for citycouncil we caught him stealing Putnam’s signs out of our yard. And that was just the beginning.
What a prince!
