Paul Sanford for Alabama Senate District 7

2009 February 24

I choose to go ahead and vote by absentee ballot this morning, so I had to make up my mind between Roger Richardson and Paul Sanford.  After much consideration I voted for Paul Sanford.  I stopped by his restaurant shortly afterward to pick up a sign for my yard.

I still believe that Paul and Roger are the two best candidates and if the two of them make it to a runoff then I’ll certainly be open minded as to who I vote for then.  My rationale for picking Paul over Roger was not terribly strong – the two men are very even in my opinion.  Paul’s experience as a small businessman gave him a slight edge, although Roger does have good plans on promoting small business growth in the state.  Paul was also the only candidate I had the opportunity to speak with before Parker Griffith defeated Wayne Parker to open up the seat and I remember liking what he had to say when he wasn’t trying to earn my vote.

Thanks for your support and confidence.  Next Tuesday night should be an exciting evening for us first-time candidates.  Hopefully, my conversations about ethics reform (obviously needed), fiscal responsibility(lost in Montgomery), economic growth(greatly needed State wide), and many local issues specific to District 7  will continue for the next six to twelve weeks.
