AL Senate District 7 Candidates Answer Questionnaire
I’m very pleased to say that five of the six Republicans running for the open Alabama Senate District 7 seat previously held by Parker Griffith responded to our candidate questionnaire. The five who responded are:
All of the candidates clearly took a great deal of time to provide thoughtful answers. We tried to have a few open ended questions, such as “Name or describe one bill that you would personally champion in the Alabama Senate,” in order to get a feel for the candidates’ priorities. Those types of questions help to draw out some of the differences in the candidates. A couple of the more pointed questions yielded varied responses as well. In regards to the “Free the Hops” gourmet beer bill the answers ranged from no to yes with a few more cautiously worded responses in between. However, the question about Alabama’s constitution yielded a unanimous opposition to a Constitutional Convention with everyone preferring the article by article method of reworking the 1901 constitution.
Republican Peter Wright and Democrats Laura Hall and Anthony Daniels did not respond.
The primary election will be held on March 3rd, 2009.
I appreciate your asking the candidates about their stance regarding Initiative and Referendum, and I’m pleased to see that all of the 5 candidates who responded support I&R to one degree or another.
Of their answers, I like Roger Richardson’s the best because it is short and straightforward, a simple “Yes”.
You’re welcome. We aim to please around here.
Thanks for this information.I am disappointed that the news media is not covering this election any more thoroughly than it has. Of all the candidates I have examined so far,I like the answers of Allan Rhodes the best.As a fellow FairTax supporter,I feel he has the right frame of mind for the job.
