Alvin Holmes gives a lesson in common sense

State Rep. Alvin Holmes shares my opinion that the term “African-American” is ridiculous.

“I dislike very much anybody using that word African-American,” Holmes said.

“The only people who want to use African-American are these pointy headed, briefcase-toting black intellectuals,” Holmes said. “I ain’t never had nobody in my district support people who called themselves African-American.”

Read the whole thing for yourself.  It’s pretty amusing.

    “We’re all Americans first.”

On this, I agree with Holmes.

“African-American means anybody from the continent of Africa”

Obama fits that better than most black people, since his father was from Africa – but I don’t use ‘hyphenated-American’. I’m not very PC.

Remember that CNN (Carol Lin) is so idiotically PC that they used the term “African-American” to describe French black people (Tunisian Muslims in that case) rioting in Paris.

That’s great! No doubt about it, Sen. Holmes never fails to speak his mind.
