Jerry Craig encouraging voter fraud

About a month ago a friend of mine alerted me to a case of voter fraud here in Madison County encouraged by County Commissioner Jerry Craig.  I was able to meet with a non-citizen, legal resident who was told he was eligible to vote by Jerry Craig and who’s voter registration may have been filled out by Craig himself.

The individual in question is a citizen of a European country who is in the United States legally on a green card.  He is not a citizen of the US.  He told me about how he stopped by the county shed to ask Jerry Craig, Madison County Commissioner for District 3, a question.  Craig asked if he was registered to vote, to which he replied that he was not and didn’t think he was eligible to as a non-citizen.  Commissioner Craig, he claims, responded that he was eligible to vote with a green card.

That is absolutely not true.  The Alabama Secretary of State’s website clearly states that you must be a United States citizen to register to vote.  That requirement is also printed on voter registration forms.

Worse yet, the man I met with said that someone in Craig’s office – it may have been Craig himself – filled out the voter registration card for him.  This man did eventually receive his voter registration with precinct information, but he decided not to vote in the June primary since he did not feel comfortable with being registered.

The fella you met with might want to get some legal advice, with the current mood, he might find himself deported for someone else’s stupidity (assuming incompetence until proved otherwise). His consulate maybe able to help.

    Brian,

I would think that if your friend’s account is factual, that Jerry Craig would be subject to some sort of legal action if his conduct is reported to either the office of the Secretary of State in one of several ways by going to http://www.stopvoterfraudnow.com/reportingMethods.aspx and following the instructions there, or to the office of the Attorney General’s “Contact Page” @ http://www.ago.alabama.gov/contact.cfm.

Someone may also want to tell the Democracy Defense League about this by visiting its website’s “Contact” page @ http://www.thedemocracydefenseleague.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=63&Itemid=85 and calling one of the officers of this grassroots non-partisan multi-cultural organization that is working to eliminate voter fraud in Alabama through legal means. While on its website, I would encourage them to join the organization’s membership at no cost by going to its “Join Us” page @ http://www.thedemocracydefenseleague.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=64&Itemid=92.

Is Craig a Democrat or a Republican? Is he perhaps connected in some way to ACORN?

Craig is a Democrat, although I doubt he is connected to ACORN. I was reluctant to publicize this info since the man in question is a hard working, law abiding small business owner. I don’t want to see any negative consequences befall him. However, this is just one of many abuses of power I’ve heard about with Craig. I’ll try to bring the others to light as I run down additional details.

    Brian,

If this gentleman’s registration application was actually made by someone other than him, and especially since he decided not to vote because he didn’t think it was legal, he may not be guilty of anything. I believe if someone would present this to our Secretary of State and/or Attorney General without revealing his name they would make sure that he couldn’t be charged with anything. It may be worth trying.
