Parker Griffith has a track record that he has established for years. Griffith vote with liberal Alabama Democrats 99% in the Alabama Legislature, where his trade mark was defeating a strong anti-illegal immigration bill and voting himself a pay raise. In 2009, Congressman Parker Griffith voted 85% of the time with liberal Nancy Peolsi and the Obama crowd.
Does not sound like he has fighting Obama every step of the way. I am voting for a real Republican, Mo Brooks for Congress.

From what I read about the Alabama Legislature's Energy Policy Committee Senator Griffith is acting like a R in that setting too. Today, the Committee approved a resolution, offered by Griffith, calling on TVA to build a second two unit nuke power plant in Jackson County. All the Ds are stampeding toward drilling and nukes, yet their imperious leaders refuse to even allow a vote.

Here is a link to AP story. It fails to mention that Griffith is both a candidate for Congress and a Democrat.

To me one of the most worrisome facts is that Parker Griffith ran as a conservative democrat when he ran for state senate. If he ran as a republican with a D for state senate and then acted like this when he got to Montgomery - why do people expect him to behave differently in Washington.

speaking of illegals:
Man sentenced in death of 4-month-old daughter
Saturday, August 02, 2008By DAVID HOLDENTimes Staff Writer david.holden@htimes.com
State prosecutors dropped a capital murder charge Friday against an illegal immigrant accused of fatally shaking his infant daughter.

Gabino Nunez, 23, pleaded guilty to reckless manslaughter Friday in Circuit Judge Jim Smith's courtroom. Smith sentenced Nunez to 15 years in prison. But Smith split the sentence, ordering Nunez to serve five years with five years on probation. Nunez will get credit for the almost two years he has served in jail.

Larry Morgan, Nunez's lawyer, said Nunez will be handed over to federal immigration officers as soon as he is released from jail. Nunez will be deported back to Mexico, he said.

"The prosecution did not have enough evidence to prove its shaken-baby case," Morgan said. "This was a best interest plea."

Nunez was arrested at his home on Elizabeth Street on Aug. 18, 2006, and charged with first-degree domestic violence in connection with his daughter's beating. Four-month-old Cessa Nunez died of her injuries two days after she was hospitalized.

A Madison County grand jury indicted Nunez on a charge of capital murder for causing the death of child under 12 years old.
