Dumbest thing I’ve read in quite a while
Posted by BrianToddlers who say “yuck” when given flavorful foreign food may be exhibiting racist behavior, a British government-sponsored organization says.
The London-based National Children’s Bureau released a 366-page guide counseling adults on recognizing racist behavior in young children, The Telegraph reported Monday.
The guide, titled Young Children and Racial Justice, warns adults that babies must also be included in the effort to eliminate racism because they have the ability to “recognize different people in their lives.”
The bureau says to be aware of children who “react negatively to a culinary tradition other than their own by saying ‘yuck’.”
Words cannot describe how stupid this is. I’m just glad my tax dollars aren’t supporting such foolishness.

I 100% agree that the premise of the argument is a joke. However, I think there is something to be said for the conclusion: expose your children to the foods of different cultures at a young age. Else you get a kid (and then possibly an adult) that won’t eat anything besides chicken fingers and hamburgers. The ridiculous racism slant takes away from that perfectly valid point.

It has been my experience that very young children (I have to daughters) simply do not like food that is highly seasoned…no matter from what culture. This is just another case of government (UK) waisting money. Folks like what they like when it comes to food. End of argument.

I’m afraid we or our children will live to see the day when the label racist (or some other career wrecker) slapped on his dossier for what amounts to normal child hood behavior.
There are way too many who look to Europe/the UK as models for the future.
