Greenpeace nuts

From CNN:
Greenpeace said Monday it has disrupted the Japanese whale hunt off Antarctica by chasing the fleet’s whale processing factory ship out of the whaling zone.
The six-vessel fleet “scattered and ran” early Saturday when it realized the Greenpeace vessel Esperanza was “heading toward them at high speed,” Greenpeace expedition leader Karli Thomas told New Zealand’s National Radio.
The fleet’s three whale hunter vessels “can’t operate without the (factory ship) Nisshin Maru there to process the kill,” she added.
Personally, if you’re at sea and another boat charges toward your vessel with the intent of smashing into you then you should reserve the right to fire upon them. Arm the whaling vessels and give them the opportunity to fend off the aggressive Greenpeace boats.

This reminds me of the time back in 1985 when a covert group of French agents (who, remarkably, were not clad in pink speedos) blew up the Greenpeace ship “Rainbow Warrior” in Auckland Harbor in New Zealand. The ship was to have been part of a Greenpeace protest against a French nuclear test that was to take place in the South Pacific soon afterwards.
What could have gone down as one of the Great Moments in French Military History unfortunately did not, as the French managed to botch even this relatively simple operation. At least some of the folks responsible were apprehended by New Zealand authorities and a major international scandal ensued. It ended with the French behaving like Frenchmen, paying reparations both to the government of New Zealand and to Greenpeace.
