John Stossel interviews Ron Paul
Posted by BrianJohn Stossel recently sat down with Ron Paul for an excellent interview. Most journalists are pro big government libs and spend an inordinate amount of time with jaw agape as Ron Paul explains what it really means to have a limited federal government. Stossel is a well known libertarian and was able to really plow through a wide array of Paul’s positions.
You can read a partial transcript here. On the questions of, “What should government do?” Paul gave a very good answer with one line in particular that his critics should pay attention to.
Protect our freedoms. Have a strong national defense. Look at and take care of our borders. Have a sound currency. That was the responsibility of the federal government, not to run our lives and run everything in the economy and extend the interstate-commerce clause and the general-welfare clause to do anything they want to do.
Did you miss it? Paul says we should have a strong national defense.  Paul does not believe in “spreading our goodness” overseas with military force - he prefers to do by setting a good example - but he does believe in having a strong defense to protect the country. As always I must add that Paul is one of the few candidates who actually served in the military.
You can see the rest of the interview here. Three segments of the interview have been posted and three more will be posted in the next three days. The ones I’ve seen cover a lot of ground; I highly suggest watching them.
