Bush did it on a national level
Posted by BrianAccording to Phyllis Schlafly Mike Huckabee, “destroyed the conservative movement in Arkansas, and left the Republican Party a shambles.”
The quote was part of a larger hatchet piece by John Fund of the Wall Street Journal. Such an article is a clear sign that Huckabee is now a “top tier” candidate worthy of attacking.

They are coming down hard on him from all directions. Recently I’ve discovered his positions on CO2 emmisions (he basically agrees with Al Gore), immigration (pro-amnesty), and spending (basically supported expanding SCHIP) and I’ve been less than pleased.
The Club for Growth has been hammering pretty hard too.
We’ll see how he holds up. I hope it doesn’t tank him too much. He will further dilute the vote.

Yeah, the CFG has been hammering him hard for a while - and for good reason. I was never terribly impressed with his job as gov of Arkansas. He is probably one of the biggest, if not the biggest, nanny-state Republican in the field.
That being said, in a field of flawed candidates he does have a couple of things going for him:
1) He’s one of the two most electable candidates in the general election.
2) He vigorously supports the FairTax. All of the others (except Ron Paul, of course!) want to keep the current hopelessly broken system in some form.

Yeah, even with his flaws he is much more bearable than Rudy.

I thought he looked really good (and blogged about it) last night @ Iowa’s Reagan dinner. I really believe he has a chance.
