Will Anderson out at WVNN
Posted by BrianListeners to North Alabama’s top news talk station, 92.5 FM/770 AM WVNN, may have noticed that Will Anderson is no longer the afternoon talk show host. He has also been removed from the station’s website. No reason was given and former morning show host Fred Holland is taking over the afternoon show in the mean time.
I honestly can’t say that I’m going to lose a lot of sleep.

good riddance. Not very original. He basically was an echo chamber for the hannity show.
August 20th, 2007 at 6:00 am
Will may have agreed with Shawn on many issues, but his tone was completely different. Will was polite, engaging, and willing to listen. That’s what made his show special, and it is what I will miss most. Hannity would do well to learn how to listen a bit more.

Im glad that hes gone,, Why doesn’t WVNN stop with all of this s%$@#, and maybe get someone who isnt a Limbaugh wanna be for a change.. I got sick of that station, and lil’ freddy holland’s just another blow buddy of bush. I just don’t want to listen to that crap anymore. Maybe someone can speak truth for once.. Both sides are liars, and they just wanna serve their corporate masters. Why not someone try speaking for the working people for just once, and expose the corporate scandals in Washington, and those of our elected representatives in BOTH PARTYS!! Limbaugh could of used his clout and done that, but he sold out for money, so didnt Hannity. Anyone who believes them are Stupid!

I have a strong suspicion that the above poster is a liberal who
misses Al Franken’s failed Air America show. Any normal person would know that Will Anderson is not a clone of the national Rush Limbaugh.
One thing thing that made Will Anderson unique was he discussed local issues with the voting listener audience of the Huntsville, Decatur, and Athens area right up to his sudden departure. I am highly suspicious that a local government official may have been involved by possibly pressuring WVNN to remove Will. Is he punished for exercising his right of free speech and encouraging the same from others in the Huntsville? He’s a true patriot who had an oustanding show.
Now I listen to WVNN during the day but snap if off after the completion of Sean Hannity’s show. WVNN needs a good
local talk host like Will Anderson and needs to bring him back.

Dan,
I thought that Will displayed a generally poor grasp of local issues. He was too often not “in the know” about what was going on, which is fine for regular folks, but isn’t a good position to be in for a local political talk show host.
I found him to be nauseatingly partisan (and I agreed with him 90% of the time). If he were on the air right now he would probably be one of the guys defending Larry Craig.
Just the same, he is a young, green fellow and maybe he can build on his experience at WVNN and continue in the industry.
August 31st, 2007 at 6:37 am
I didn’t agree with Will on everything either. He did a good job on local issues but I found it interesting when he left after the alcohol vote in Athens. Maybe no foul play but makes one wonder. I hope to hear him again on the airwaves on another station.
If you want a balanced view, watch Foxnews although they can lean left sometimes.
Talk radio was made popular by Americans who got tired of hearing the manufactured liberal partisan crap on mainstream media. Air America was a failure because their leftist crap didn’t sell on radio; why would anyone listen to them when they could watch CNN,CBS, ABC, NBC on TV?
I beleive tapping your foot in a rest room is not a crime. The officer who entrapped Craig should be fired immediately. No doubt Craig should have consulted his attorney first before entering a guilty plea. I heard the tape and read the police report. Fire that SOB in my opinion.
August 31st, 2007 at 8:17 pm
Craig is gay. Period. That isn’t a crime. However, Craig was actively trying to solicit anonymous sex in a public restroom. Whether or not he had crossed the line into lewd behavior yet is beside the point. His goal was to engage in some kind of sexual act in a public bathroom.
You’re the first person I’ve ever heard who called FoxNews left leaning.
I do not believe that Will was forced out by any local politician. He did far less “muck raking” among the local politicos than the new morning host, Dale Jackson.

I emailed another host on the WVNN website and asked about Will. I miss his show! I basically asked what had happened. To my surprise, he emailed me back and said that he “couldn’t talk about private issues” but said that basically Will and the head honcho’s at WVNN didn’t agree on where his show was going and that Will was pursuing other options.
Will even had a Wikepedia page, and after he vanished from the radio, so did his Wikepedia page. I think that WVNN made a huge mistake ng rid of Will. I loved his show….and I agreed with him most of the time.
Tim Knox will be taking over and I heard yesterday an advertisement for the new show. They said “Tim Knox will be discussing the lighter side of the world’s issues” or something like that. BLAH…..the last thing I want to hear is watered down commentary on what’s going on in the world and in Huntsville. Bring back Will!!!

I’m not surprised about Wikipedia eliminating his page. I read a while back that Wikipedia tries to periodically cull out entries that are of dubious import.

Be careful about complaining about the stupidity of WVNN management. If complainers don’t shut up they may assualt listerners with another tour of Darla Jay. She sent many Huntsvillians in for psycho countseling. She was nicknamed the snorting pig. If this don’t drive listerners crazy they may bring back Dave Stone? or what’s his name. He was called the raving maniac. I believe the same management team from WYDE has moved into WVNN, probably running the place at no charge other than swinging bars and plenty of peanuts.

Whether or not Craig is queer, I could care less.
I do beleive the cop was the one trying to stretch
the facts and he should be given the option for
retraining at his own expense before returning to
the force or FIRED. I’m tired of reading stories
about bad cops.
So if you tap your feet while in the stall next to me, I will
call you a fag.
Those of us who are in the middle who beleive in what
the Constitution says are accused of being right wing by
the lefties. A lefty is a communist that needs to find
another country to live. Plenty of dictatorships and
socialist countries to choose from.
Fox does a good job being balanced but that means
showing the view of left wing idiots which when you
average it out brings from the middle to slightly to
the left. CNN, CBS, and others are clearly far left.
Mehgan is correct, WVNN is bringing on some one
new early this month to fill Will’s slot. Let’s all give
him a fair chance before passing judgement.
WILL ANDERSON, if you are out there, good luck
to you buddy and hope you are on the air again soon.
You will be missed by your listening audience!

Dan, Craig was not arrested for just tapping his feet. He was tapping his foot – no problem there. His neighbor also started tapping his foot – again, no problem. You and I probably wouldn’t even notice such activities, but what did Craig do? He moved his foot into the other person’s stall and rubbed his foot against the other man’s. If that wasn’t enough, Craig put his hand into the other man’s stall. It just so happened that the other man was a police officer trained in identifying such known “cruising” tactics. That police officer was stationed there to stop public sexual activity that was rampant in that bathroom and is considered a public nuisance. Craig was soliciting anonymous sex in a public bathroom – there is absolutely no doubt about it. Whether or not he should be charged with a crime is another matter that I am not qualified to decide. But at least admit to what he was trying to do.
The officer was not lying in wait for a Republican legislator to proposition him. He was waiting for sexual deviants. He found one. The deviant just happened to be a Republican senator. Craig was clearly not forthright during the subsequent questioning. Count how many times he said “I don’t recall” or something to that effect. The incident happened just minutes before. How could he have possibly forgotten so much in so little time?
This is not a story about a bad cop. For example, the cop said that he saw a gold ring on Craig’s hand. Now remember, he had no motivation for fabricating a story because he didn’t know Craig was a senator until he got him into the interrogation room. I could almost understand the officer maybe getting confused about whether it was Craig’s right or left hand in the stall without the ring, but the fact that he saw the ring kind of seals the deal as to which hand was in the stall.
September 1st, 2007 at 8:25 pm
Brian
Craig never asked for sex. He did not admit to touching the officer’s foot nor putting his hand in the other stall. The fact that the officer got left and right hands mixed up proves he was stretching the facts and plain lying. Craig’s word against the officer’s. Craig accused the officer of entrapment and if you actually heard the tape and read the report you would come up with same conclusion.
Same as “you didn’t stop at the stop sign”
“Yes I did”
What judge is going to beleive you? Your word against that of a corrupt cop.
Go whine about something else.
September 1st, 2007 at 9:10 pm
I have read the transcript and heard the audio of the interview multiple times. Read the interview transcript again for yourself:
You still want to back up your “He did not admit to touching the officer’s foot” statement?
My point about Craig’s ring is that obviously the officer didn’t mix up the hands. He saw a gold wedding ring. Crag admits that he can’t put it on his other hand. Case closed.

The problem with Sen. Craig is that he thought the guy in the next stall was Barney Frank(D), although he had on shoes from Dollar General. The cheap shoes should have been a tipoff to Craig that this was no Barney Frank(D) or ex-cong Studds(D). They would be wearing $100 Florsheims. Craig was surely thinking that only a gay Democrat would sit in a stall with his foot stuck in Craigs stall. I’m sure Craig will move to San Francisco and open a men’s house of ill-repute or take a job on the staff of Nancy Pelosi(D) or Chuckie Schumer(D.He maybe a no.1 candidate to take over George Stefanofolis(D) TV job when Hillary Clinton(D) appoints puppy dog George(D) as her new Sec of State..
September 2nd, 2007 at 1:36 pm
I’m hoping Tim Knox’s mother will sit him down and tell him to get a job for which he is suited. Let’s see: he is a pitiful talk show host, terrible in on- air advertisement speaking, void of any knowledge of current events or many past events and maybe a member of the conspiracy to kill conservitive talk radio. I can wait a long time to hear lightly, hillarious talk about local Huntsville issues. The problem is there are no issues of any interest in Huntsville. The issues are repeated over and over. Mostly highter taxes, highter pay and murders..
September 4th, 2007 at 3:27 pm
Dan,, you’d believe anything, won’t ya boy??
September 4th, 2007 at 4:56 pm
Every one have a fun Labor Day weekend? What you all think of Tim Knox? He does sound like more of a fill-in on his first day. Give him time to get his gig together and possibly impress us, just give him a fair chance.
Brian
Yes I heard what you heard but an innocent person wouldn’t remember hitting some one’s foot in a stall. that’s all the cop got on him? There is no evidence that would never stand in court other than Craig agreeing with a misconduct charge so he get rid himself of the rent-a-cop-wannabee and catch his plane.
Studds is a fine example of a democrat who can get away with sex crimes and continue to get re-elected. If he were a republican the media would chew him a new *sshole, but there’s no bias in the media, right?
Tom
I beleive in evidence and not some one trying to use their position in their attempt to manufacture it.
September 4th, 2007 at 7:27 pm
I tried listening to Tim this afternoon, but I just wasn’t in the mood for chit chat.
Dan, don’t forget about the hand, too. I’m just curious, has anyone ever touched your foot with theirs and then put their hand into your stall? Do you oppose all sting operations by police to stop public sex acts - even in our own back yard?
September 5th, 2007 at 5:01 am
Yeah that’s exactly what the first show was like, chit chat. Although a bit early to judge, he just doesn’t have much of a spine. I think WVNN wanted some one less controversial, to avoid upseting any local politicians of power and they found that person. Whether or not people tune in, is up to all of us.
The restroom cop said he seen the tips of his fingers under stall. However Craig denied this frivilous accusation and was actually picking up something from the floor. The cop also got the left and right hands mixed up because HE was not telling the truth. Craig never asked for sex. Even if Craig did just ask for sex, the other person can simply say “no”.
I wouldn’t hire this incompetent cop as a rent-a-cop. He would be too much of a liability to cause some one to generate a lawsuit against my firm. The sting operation was a failure and designed to trap the innocent. Brian, if you are so terrified of public restrooms, may I advise you to wear your rubber underwear?
September 5th, 2007 at 5:47 am
I’m not “terrified of public restrooms” nor am I at all uneasy around gay people. If propositioned by a man (or a woman - I’m married and faithful) in any place I would politely rebuff the proposer.
You don’t KNOW that the police officer was lying anymore than I KNOW that Craig was lying. Here is my basis for assessing the officer to be truthful: he had no motivation to lie and Craig did. The police officer stands to lose his job by falsely and intentionally accusing private citizens of wrongdoing. That is a pretty big motivator to stick to the facts. Craig was clearly doing something he shouldn’t have and he furtively tried to deny it to protect his facade of integrity.
Keep the facts straight (pun intended): the officer did not get the hands mixed up. He saw a wedding ring on the hand that entered his stall. That is a dead give away as to which hand it was (in addition to the thumb, which corroborated the officer’s account). The fact that he saw a wedding ring shows that it wasn’t just “the tips” of Craig’s fingers since a wedding ring sits at the base of the ring finger (on the left hand).
Also, that particular bathroom was widely known on the internet as a prime “cruising” spot. People were creating a public nuisance by engaging in sexual activities in the bathroom. The sting operations in the bathroom captured dozens of offenders prior to Craig’s arrest. From what I understand nearly all (if not all) caught admitted to being there to solicit and engage in anonymous sex.
These “cruisers” use a system of covert signals to announce their intentions. They use these signals in an unambiguous combination to avoid falsely propositioning a non-”cruiser.” Craig was signaling his intentions like a third base coach.
Now if you want to discuss whether or not one should be allowed to proposition other men in restrooms I’m open to discuss the merits of both sides. But, the allegation that Craig was there to solicit sex from a man is pretty sound.

I never really listened to The Will Anderson show much and the reason was because I couldn’t stand the way he sounded. I know this sounds crass but to me he sounded as if he were inhaling helium and then speaking into the microphone, which had the bass turned up a notch or two before it came through my radio speakers.
I’m sorry, but I could never listen long enough to form an opinion on any issues he discussed; basically for me, listening to Will was like “finger nails on chalkboard.” It was painfully annoying.
October 1st, 2007 at 9:44 am
I really enjoyed the refreshing Will Anderson for a change in afternoon viewing. I only wish him well. I do not; however, like the “new guy”. I can’t even remember his name! I usually end up changing to another radio station after years of listening to WVNN in the afternoon riding home. One problem I have with the “new guy” is he cannot speak the english language without (as the blogger above stated about Will) “finger nails on chalkboard” reactions from the listeners.
October 8th, 2007 at 3:33 pm
Jay I agree with you about the new guy. i gave him a fair chance and could not stand keeping him on my radio for longer than a half hour. He is spineless worm and really has a poorly organized show. I turned him on and he’s talking about sports and then jumps on some other tangent. He’s just there to fill airtime. I liked Will because he brought unique character and talked about local issues. I still beleive that Will was ternminated because:
1) He took stand on local issues and pissed off local government officials
2) Disagreed on some issues with Dale
I might be wrong, but there are other talk show hosts.
October 16th, 2007 at 2:07 pm
When the policeman who arrested Craig said ‘Craig entered it and put his roller bag against the front of the stall door, “which Sgt. Karsnia’s experience has indicated is used to attempt to conceal sexual conduct by blocking the view from the front of the stall,” said the complaint, which was dated June 25.’, it reduced his credibility below zero. I can’t seriously imagine anywhere else to put a roller bag in a restroom stall and have done so many times myself. If the policeman is seriously suggesting that this act is meaningful, I doubt anything he says.
I once accepted a plea deal in a case in which two policeman were lying. It was a choice of putting it behind me (with the record expunged) or proceeding through the courts with a minimum expense of at least $5000. I don’t know whether Craig was soliciting or not. And even if he was soliciting, what he actually did was not illegal, and I think the behavior of the police is a much bigger concern. If he was soliciting, any normal person would have either ignored him or told him to get his hands back where they belonged.
I have stopped listening to WVNN in the mornings or evenings. I can’t stand Dale Jackson. If he speaks, I switch stations. I’m neutral about Tim Knox, but think he’s a step backwards from Will Anderson, though better than Darla Jaye.
April 4th, 2008 at 9:41 am
I don’t know why WVNN trashed their 3-5PM slot, but I believe they have. Fred seemed to be filler, Mark Levin was a huge plus up but not local, and now there’s Pamela. I often called in to Will Anderson’s show. Lack of knowledge or lack of being unwaveringly opinionated may have been a negative for some, but he made up for it by being a good listener, relatively courteous, and stimulating people to call in for argument, viewpoint or just a thought.
Dale Jackson is far less satisfying, but he effect a number of interesting calls despite the more than occasional belittling of others. I’ve called into his show twice during his first 3 months, but not since. I have tried to listen to Pamela, but gave up shortly after her call to the brothel to find out if business was up since Sptizer. I did think about calling in , but only to ask if WVNN’s had a refrigerator that was running and in hopes of saying, “Well, you’d better go catch it”. Instead, I have opted just to leave this crappy e-mail, and hope talk radio improves at WVNN.

It is too bad that WVNN let Will Anderson go - or worse yet fired him. I’m almost positive it is a case of shaky management at WVNN getting into a snit over some minor issue in which they were forced to fire Will to save face. I listened to Will Anderson’s show every chance I got and thought he was will informed, a good listener and carried on an intelligent discussion with the callers. When I sent an email to the station for some explanatino as to his mysterious and sudden departure it was if was if I had been suddenly transported in time to the former Soviet Union. When a Soviet leader was deposed, sent to the Gulag or shot; the Soviet controlled media would play a Tchaikovsky interlude and all references to him would disappear and he would become a non-person as if he had never existed. That is exactly what happened at WVNN. They even went so far as to have him redacted out of Wikipedia as though he never existed. Fred turned out to be a lackluster filler and I’m sure listenership dropped off. I like Pamela Furr and am glad she is at WVNN but if she gets too popular or says something that is politically incorrect (according to station management); you can expect her to be sent away, her name and picture removed from the WVNN web site and all email to the station returned with a comment that she is “currently pursuing other interests.” I can only the assume that if the talk show host is the least bit controversial that the management of WVNN has a sacred duty to releave that host of duties as quickly and unceremoniously as possible. Will was one of the best talk show hosts at WVNN and could have easily substituted for Shawn Hannity. Will was always polite, engaging, and willing to listen except when he said “Kook ‘em Baxter”. It would be nice if anyone has any information as to what Will Anderson is currently doing, that they leave a note at this website.

I am not sure of the spelling of her name, however, while listening to her program a few days ago, she was going on about McCain signing the Bailout Bill. I could not believe how this woman RANTED and RAVED against McCain. The influence she must have had on many listeners, especially those listening for the first time, would have been terrible.
Yes, we have free speech. However, she was yelling, like a child, throughout the news message regarding this. She is not a good influence for your radio station. Screaming and yelling is not as an “educated” adult would act.
I would hope someone has mentioned this to her and advised her that she can give opinions, but no one wants to hear a woman ranting and raving on the radio. When she comes on, I change to another station.
Thank you, Barbara McDonald
