On the Attack in Huntsville

Huntsville’s newest talk radio personality has come into the Tennessee Valley swinging.  The man is Dale Jackson and his show, “The Attack Machine,” airs from 6:00 to 9:00 AM on 770 AM/92.5 FM WVNN.  Dale has been stirring up trouble with local leaders since arriving here – and that is just what this area needed.  His incessant demands for officials to go on the record or provide documents on controversial topics in compliance with public records laws have put those officials on notice that their actions will no longer go ignored.

Huntsville’s ruling class has grown quite content with only one major paper and TV stations that seem more obsessed with restaurant ratings and chicken little weather reporting than with bird-dogging government officials.  The Huntsville Times does a respectable job of covering local politics, but one always wonders if their thirst for access to the officials they cover clouds their reporting and without any major opposition they have little motivation to do more than gently rock the boat.  Dale has come in with no strings attached and has been keen to tip the proverbial boat over.

Some of you might remember Dale from his brief stint with the now defunct 101.1 FM ”The Source” out of Birmingham where he was part of a morning tag team.  To be quite honest I never cared much for that program, but he is much better going solo.  His program tends to be a bit on the edgier side and probably didn’t fit well at the “God and Country” holier than thou Crawford Broadcasting station in Birmingham.  WVNN seems to be a better fit for him and Huntsville is a riper market for some good ‘ol muck raking.

If you can’t catch Dale’s show live you can always check his programming notes here to see what topics he is covering.

I listen to Dale sometimes, but not often, because at times he seems too hostile to his guests (duh, ‘Attack Machine’). IMO, he badgered Councilman Glenn Watson last week on illegal immigration, which is OK, b/c Watson should be able to take the heat; but Watson is one of the good guys on that issue – he just wasn’t ‘pure’ enough for Dale.

    I don’t think he’ll get very many guests…
