Reconsidering our reverence for FDR

Amity Shlaes has a great column in the Wall Street Journal that takes a fresh look at FDR.  It’s worth a read, but here is a single line that gives the flavor of the piece.

The incredible rightness of FDR’s war policy obscures the flaws in his prior actions.

    FDR -knew- that the Japanese were going to attack Pearl Harbor. This journalist (author of ‘Day of Deceit: The Truth about FDR and Pearl Harbor’) says so, and he’s a JOURNALIST!!!

    This is my favorite part from the WSJ article: “The Brain Trusters were not, for the most part, fascists or communists. They were thoughtful people who wrote in the New Republic.”

    Heh -”for the most part”-
