I saw this letter to the editor in the HSV Times that aims to cool the tensions in the Alabama Senate:

I have heard about and seen the photos of the brawl between senators Lowell Barron, D-Fyffe, and Charles Bishop, R-Jasper, on the last day in session for the Legislature.

Evidently, Barron called Bishop a name, causing him pain. Bishop responded with a right cross, causing Barron even more pain.

All of that is in the past now and nothing can be done to change it. But I have a way to remedy this situation:

Gov. Bob Riley could call the Legislature back to Montgomery for a special session, the House and Senate could draft a nonbinding resolution “apologizing to Sen. Barron on behalf of Sen. Bishop for past misdeeds,” and Riley could sign the resolution into law, thus immediately and absolutely repairing Alabama’s image among the rest of the country and convincing foreign industry that is considering this state for expansion that we, the people of Alabama, have moved forward from the past and into the 21st century.

Now that I think about it, that would be more than has been done in the last six months.
