Despite the federal take over of education with the No Child Gets Ahead (some call it No Child Left Behind) program, less than half of high school seniors command at least a basic knowledge of U.S. History and civics.  Only 1% of students at any grade level scored in the advanced level.  Impressive.  I’m sure the percentage who can name every American Idol winner is somewhere north of 90%.

• Home schooling becoming more viable
