Government schools churning out civic morons

Despite the federal take over of education with the No Child Gets Ahead (some call it No Child Left Behind) program, less than half of high school seniors command at least a basic knowledge of U.S. History and civics. Only 1% of students at any grade level scored in the advanced level. Impressive. I’m sure the percentage who can name every American Idol winner is somewhere north of 90%.

I’m going to go out on a limb and say that that was the intention the entire time. The less they know about how government works the better?
Well could you imagine a high school class on the US Constitution? There would have to be either a lot of glossing over or some rude awakenings.
