Gun control doesn’t help Japanese mayor
2007 April 21
Despite having some of the most stringent gun control laws in the Democratic world, the mayor of Nagasaki, Japan was gunned down this week. The slaying was blamed on organized crime. That’s the funny thing about gun control laws. Criminals, who have little respect for laws in general, don’t tend to let pesky little gun laws get in their way. That leaves an unarmed, helpless populace dependant on government protection. As usual, when you’re left to depend on the government you often end up sorely disappointed.

That’s one of the weirdest arguments against gun control I’ve ever heard. Focus on one act of gun violence and use that as an argument that gun control isn’t working? That’s weird. By that standard, you are saying gun control laws don’t work unless they stop every single act of gun violence.
Restrictive gun access laws only “work” if they remove all guns from society. That isn’t what happens, though. Instead only law abiding citizens give up their arms.
A sufficient argument against gun-control is that it can’t be enforced. Do gun-control proponents believe that the BATF will be more effective in contolling guns than the DEA is in controlling illegal drugs, or than ICE is in contolling illegal immigration?
