Shelby’s trying to secure some federal sausage for Redstone.

U.S. Sen. Richard Shelby, R-Tuscaloosa, lobbied his colleagues on the floor of the Senate this morning to increase law enforcement training at Redstone Arsenal. He asked that an explosives research center be placed on the Army post and that the Justice Department’s budget be increased.

Shelby wants the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms to establish a National Center for Explosives Research on Redstone.

Here’s a novel idea - how about letting the ATF decide if they even need a “National Center for Explosives Research” and then decide where they want to put it?
