I’m Marching to Montgomery
Posted by BrianI have decided to join the caravan down to Montgomery on Tuesday, March 20th to protest the 62% pay raise that our august legislators just voted for themselves. I’m actually taking the whole family down. I encourage you to do the same and let our elected officials know that we’re tired of them thinking they can do whatever they please without any repercussions.
What: 65% pay raise protest
When: 10:00 AM Tuesday, March 20, 2007
Where: Statehouse steps, Montgomery, AL
Why: Tell them “Hell No!”
Who: You!
The protest is being arranged by Matt Murphy of 101.1 FM ”The Source” in Birmingham. Click here to read the details on Matt’s website. You can sign an online petition if you plan on attending. It should be noted that Matt set up a petition when the protest was planned on a different date and started collecting signatures. The date was changed to the 20th, but you can’t just change something on a petition without expunging the list of signers. At first he tried to retain the original petition, but it was confusing many, so he ditched it and replaced it with a corrected one here. The original petition has over 250 people and the new one, which has only been up about a day, already has 50 (some duplicates).
We all talk and frequently complain about the dirty politics on Goat Hill. Now is your chance to demand change.

While I would like to, the logistics aren’t in my favor. First of all I don’t have a laptop (at least not one that works!). Second, I’ll be with my wife and three kids, so I’ll already have my hands full.
I’ll be taking pictures and I’ll provide a full recap Tuesday night.
