I guess we take what we can get
Posted by BrianPresidential candidate and serial hypocrite John McCain will be speaking to the Alabama legislature on Tuesday, March 20.
McCain’s latest foray into a world he tried to eliminate as a legislator involves an NCAA basketball bracket contest on his website. If you register you can win a fleece, a hat, or even a pin. Oh boy!
You might recall McCain’s efforts to ban all gambling on college sports a few years ago.
If Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) and Rep. Lindsay Graham (R-S.C.) have their way, say goodbye to the good old days of March Madness, the legal betting on the NCAA Tournament and, for that matter, wagering on all college sports.
OK, so McCain isn’t asking for a financial wager to participate, but I would argue that providing your personal information is tantamount to a financial transaction since campaigns do assign a financial value to that information. They gladly pay for voter lists that contain the same information. So what he is doing is asking you to give him something of value in exchange for a chance to win something else based on the performance of some college kids.
