Killed over a salutation
Posted by BrianJamal Woods held on murder charge as probe continues
A relative of the man shot and killed Sunday night at a Huntsville restaurant said the shooting happened after the victim innocently said hello to a woman who was with the shooter.
Marcus White, a cousin of Tanqueray “Tank” Lavonacheke Beavers, 21, of Athens, said Beavers spoke to the woman when he entered TGI Friday’s on University Drive with a group of friends and cousins.
The woman was with Jamal Roydrick Woods, 21, whom police charged with murder in the shooting death of Beavers, police said.
“(Beavers) just spoke to her when he went in and kept on going,” White said.
Beavers grew up with and went to school in Athens with the woman, who police said was Woods’ girlfriend.
At least the Huntsville Times correctly identified which person was the victim, unlike the New York paper of the same name.
Mr. Woods is clearly an unstable person. Let’s hope he is never allowed to venture out into society again.

“Mr. Woods is clearly an unstable person.”
Seriosusly, where do you get off judging someone you don’t even know? I’m not defending what he did because, well, yeah it was senseless, I am defending his character. We all do things driven by our emotions that we later regret, this could possibly be one of the egregious errors possible, but it shouldn’t define us. If a man steals bread to feed his children should he be called a thief for the rest of his life? Its not your right to judge anyone sir. So don’t

If you don’t feel comfortable judging Mr. Woods then don’t. I, however, have no such reservations in this case.
If you can give me a justification for a rational person going on a shooting rampage in a restaurant then I will consider moderating my position. I could *almost* understand calling the murder of the guy who talked to his girlfriend an “egregious error.” But, Mr. Woods started shooting half an hour after the alleged offending comments were made. That shows premeditation. Furthermore, Woods shot everyone at the table. That shows gross depravity.
If that isn’t the definition of an unstable person that is unfit for society then I don’t know what is.

I truly do not feel that Mr. Woods should be considered as an unstabled person, giving the cirumstances at the time, he truly tried to get some clarification as to why these guys felt the need to speak with a young lady who was presently in the company of another man, not knowing if this person was her husband. I don’t think Mr. Woods went on a shooting rampage, I think the facts should be evaluated; the victims of the same party. He could have truly felt disrepected. Clearly if his action results in unstability, than, a psychological evaluation should be sought and his actions would be not gulity by reason of insanity…

“He could have truly felt disrespected.” I’m a bit fuzzy on this one. Are you suggesting that being disrespected is justification for murder?
Whether or not he is criminally insane is separate from whether or not he is unstable. Personally I don’t think it should matter if murderers are “insane” when they commit their crimes. That being said, I think it is fair to say that anyone who kills another person (or persons in this case) without direct threat to their life or property is an unstable person. At a minimum he is not worthy of mingling in civilized society.
