USA Today has a database of the salaries of all college football coaches at public universities.  With the regular season over now is a good time to see which schools in the SEC are getting their money’s worth.

Here are coaches’ salaries* from highest to lowest:

  1. Tuberville (Auburn): $2,231,000
  2. Fulmer (Tennessee): $2,050,000
  3. Shula (Alabama): $1,766,853
  4. Richt (Georgia): $1,713,000
  5. Meyer (Florida): $1,524,550
  6. Miles (LSU): $1,450,000
  7. Spurrier (South Carolina): $1,300,000
  8. Nutt (Arkansas): $1,049,644
  9. Croom (Mississippi St.): $940,000
  10. Orgeron (Ole Miss): $905,000
  11. Brooks (Kentucky): $729,165

*Salaries include base salary plus “other income,” which includes endorsements.  Incentive pay was not included since all incentive criteria has not been determined yet.

Which schools are getting the best bang for the buck?  I figured the best metric would be cost per win.  Here is how that shakes out (win-loss record in parentheses):
