Equality is controversial?
Posted by BrianI’ve said for a while that racial bigotry and discrimination are perpetuated in this country via “anti-discrimination” laws and any distinctions based skin pigmentation other than for purely descriptive reasons, such as police identification. Many universities take great pains to portray themselves as diverse and tolerant (at least of outwardly visible differences). Some even cross ethical lines. I always found it a bit ironic and counter productive that these same universities also have race specific clubs and student buildings where, for example, black students can mingle exclusively with other black students. How does that promote cultural understanding, which is the best tool against discrimination?
Well, at Arizona State University a group of kids have created the “Caucasian Men of ASU” club. The club was not created to promote white supremacy or white separatist agendas. The club actually allows members of all races and genders. It was merely created to illustrate the absurdity of having any race based clubs, laws, etc. The mere fact that this club is controversial should give everyone a moment of pause.
