What a lousy set of games this week.

Update: >> Final Score, $ = win, X = loss

   >>> Week 4 record: 4-3 (6-1 straight up)

   >>> Overall record: 17-12 (23-6 straight up)

Alabama @ Arkansas (Ark -2) –> This will not be a game of “who is better” as much as it will be a game of “who is least bad.”  Neither of these teams have been impressive and I think the loser is in store for a very long and disappointing season.  For that reason alone I have to go with my heart and pick against Alabama.  UAT 13 - Ark 20.

   >>> UAT 23 - Ark 24, X

Colorado @ Georgia (UGA -26.5) –> I would like to see the odds of the Buffalos even making it inside Georgia’s 30 yard line.  UC 3 - UGA 35.

   >>> UX 13 - UGA 13, X

Buffalo @ Auburn (AU -42.5) –> That is a huge spread for a game where Auburn’s starters might not go past the first quarter.  Auburn wins very comfortably, but some third string defenders will give up a late trash score or two to the Bulls and the Tigers will come just short of covering.  AU 52 - UB 10.

   >>> AU 38 - UB 7, $

Mississippi St. @ UAB (UAB -10) –> It is a sad day when an SEC school - any SEC school - is a ten point dog to a Conference USA school.  But, the Bulldogs have earned their dismal status.  MSU 14 - UAB 17.

   >>> MSU 16 - UAB 10, $

Penn. St. @ Ohio St. (OSU -16.5) –> Penn. St. bad.  Ohio St. good.  PSU 10 - OSU 35.

   >>> PSU 6 - OSU 28, $

Notre Dame @ Michigan St. (ND -4.5) –> We’ll learn a lot about the Domers this weekend against a pretty good, tough to beat Spartans team.  Charlie Weis is (supposedly) an offensive god, but can he do something about his secondary?  Michigan St. has a big, talented receiver named Matt Trannon and the outcome of the game could hinge on Notre Dame’s ability to contain him.  I’m expecting a shoot out.  ND 42 - MSU 35.

   >>> ND 40 - MSU 37, X

Upset Special:

Wake Forest @ Ole Miss (Miss -3) –> What exactly have the Rebels done this season to make them the favorites in this game?  Losing to Kentucky (!) by 17 points (!!) is nothing to hang your hat on.  On the flip side, the ACC has proven to be one of the worst conferences in the country through the first three weeks and the Deacons only beat the league’s perennial doormat, Duke, by one point.  I’m sorry if you get stuck watching this snoozer.  WF 24 - Miss 21.

   >>> WF 27 - Miss 3, $
