I hope Daniel Howes, a columnist with The Detroit News, doesn’t speak for all in Detroit.  Howes is upset that we live in a fair representation of a free market economy.  He believes that the government could and/or should solve the Big 3’s problems.

Long story short, Mr. Howe, government intervention is the last thing that needs to take place.  Our government should not be in the business of propping up poorly managed companies that consistently churn out inferior products simply because two of the three the companies are headquartered in the U.S.

Quoting Sen. Richard Shelby:

“The way (Detroit automakers) do business has to change or they won’t be around. The competition has been brought to our shores. There is a lot that our automobile manufacturers can learn in the world.”
